skate journal: sore red curbs session with Nate (Oct 20)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 21st, 2008 by corpo

Being super sore and skating don’t get together very well. Especially when your me, the least coordinated skateboarder of all time. Somehow a few of the basics were working out for me though and the curb was grinding good. After awhile we setup this little polejam thing and it ended up being legit. I’ve really only done no comply polejams in the past, but, decided this time I was going to stick to regular pole jams. After finally getting a few Nate was on me to do front 180 out. Just because he thinks it’s really easy he kept on me to do it. I never did. I do think I could eventually do it and I thank Nate for pushing me, but tonight was not the night. Over all a decent session even though neither of us were able to do flip tricks due to my heel hurting and his knee hurting. At least I’m old. Ha.

skate journal: Lafayette and Denver with Trick Factory (oct 19)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 20th, 2008 by corpo

After a super fun morning of playing soccer and baseball with Ollie I met up with Neil, Brian, Jason, Lazer, Fuzz and Rob around 2pm. First we hit up this wallride spot in Lafayette where I got stuck mostly filming. Kind of a crazy wallride that Rob, Fuzz and Neil had no problem with. Brian was trying a pretty rad line ending with an alley oop wallride, but he couln’t get it. We ended up leaving due to numerous cop drive byes.Next we went to a playground/city park in Denver that ended up being a ton of fun. There was a really sick ledge off a curb. Unfortunately you had to drop down two sets of stairs and get setup for it really quick. The only thing I landed was a noseslide. Jason landed about 30 noseslides. Fuzz killed it. Neil killed it. Lazer got a sick line. I sucked, but that is to be expected. I really wanted to kickflip 50 the ledge, but couldn’t get setup after the curb drop to kickflip. Plus I have new shoes. Billy Marks Fallens, they are good shoes, but take a minute to break in. After awhile we ended up at the foam covered volcano for a fun session and a couple kickflips from Brian and I. Kickflipping on foam is really weird. Fun day.

skate journal: I hate not skating for a week (oct 18)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 20th, 2008 by corpo

After a week of either extreme back pain or being super sick I finally got out on my board for a bit in front of the house. I’m one of those people that loses tricks everyday so when I go an entire week I pretty much have to start over. Today was no exception. I believe it took 10 tries to land a kickflip. After about 30 minutes, lots of lame 180s and other lameness I ended the session completely winded after a fakie bigflip. Love that trick.

skate journal: cold and my side spasms are back ugh (oct 11)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 12th, 2008 by corpo

Red curbs session with Brian, Neil, Lloyd, Monico, Elijah, Reed and Eric with his amazing ledge.  My side was acting up really bad.  I landed 1 kickflip out of about 20 tries.  Horrible.  I could hardly bend down.  And to top it off it was about 40 degrees and raining which feels really cold when you are used to 60s.  Went to SOL ramp and met up with Riley and Tyler.  My side was still hurting but ramp is easier on the body.  Did a few basics before filming Brian, Riley, Tyler and Monico.  Pretty fun evening.

skate journal: quick longmont park session (oct 10)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 12th, 2008 by corpo

Had about an hour after work to skate.  Picked up Riley and met Josh at the Longmont park.  After awhile of cruising around dorking out I watched the Riley demo on the ledge.  He did tricks like noseblunt bigpsin out, front blunt bispin out, bigsin front blunt and posed out bigspin in bigspin out of front blunt a few times.  Geez.  I tried a bunch more smiths and didn’t get any.  I got into a lot more of them though.  Pretty mediocre way for me to start the weekend.

skate journal: forever at the Longmont park (oct 8)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 9th, 2008 by corpo

Null Six PackTired from working early I went to the Longmont park around 4.  Only a couple bikers were there at that time and Nate, Bernie and Josh were on their way.  I spent the first hour dorking around not really trying anything, just getting a feel for my new setup.  It was quite fun actually.  After awhile I started trying to ollie over the rail out of the kicker.  Super scary to me and I never came close to getting it.  Then i played a game of SKATE with Bernie and CJ that I lost badly.  The funniest part was all of us complaining about something new (Bernie had new shoes, I had new deck and wheels, CJ had a new deck too).  What abunch of dorks, theirs kids that would love a new deck out there.  Anyways the rest of the session was basically a ledge session with Nate and Bernie.  Bernie was trying fakie 5-0 frontside halfcab flip out.  I was trying to learn front smiths as I’ve never done one.  So Bernie and I had a race.  First one to get their trick gets a Gatorade from the other.  I landed it first.  So hyped, never done a front smith before.  Now I feel almost as cool as Joe Hamilton.  Almost.  Bernie never got me that drink.  Jerk.

skate journal: quick bank to curb session with Gabe and Nate (oct 7)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 9th, 2008 by corpo

Had about an hour to skate and met Nate and Gabe at the bank to curb.  We played a game of SKATE on the curb which was pretty fun.  Not much else went down then we hit the manny pad where I didn’t land a single trick.  Wow, that hurts.
