funnest obstacle ever evergreen skatepark

Early mission. Dave and Carleigh were at my house around 7 and we got to the Evergreen park at 8am. Wowsers. Obviously we had the park to ourselves at that point and with the exception of a few kids that mostly skated in the corner it was like that all day. And I say ‘all day’ because we skated for 5 hours straight. I don’t know if Dave and Carleigh liked the park as much as me, but I think it’s one of my favorite parks ever. The warm up process didn’t seem too bad for anyone. Carleigh was the first to get her trucks on the weird vert qp. She also put a first try noseslide down the ‘hubba’. Dave was doing 50s on the metal curb. I was posing f/s halfcab flips over the hip. It’s hard to remember the order of what all went down. Carleigh ended up doing like 500 kicfklips over the b/s hip and was trying kickflips over the f/s flip. Some really nice b/s ollies too. I don’t remember if she got a back disaster on the qp or not. The doubles action was later in the session. Over the course of the session I ended up landing a lot of tricks over the hip. Kickflip, f/s halfcab flip, halfcab flip, fakie bigflip, b/s flip followed by f/s flip and a f/s nollie 270 which I’ve never done before. Simon joined us and ripped the park a new one in no time. Front tail on the vert wall as well as like 10 other tricks, fakie ollie the hip, front 50 up the ‘hubba’, ollies from the kicker into the hip, etc, etc. Dave had some long lines. Out of the kicker to nose manual the top of the hip, ollie the euro to manual. Nollies over the hip then manual the the little qp then cali grind the entire backside of the hip. I had 180 nose manual and kickflip manual from the kicker to the top of the hip. Also a front shove up onto it. I couldn’t get myself to front 50 down the hubba. I should have done it when I had more energy earlier in the session and was able to front 50 shove the ledge on top of the manny pad. Dave did a bunch of nollie 360s over the hip. Carleigh got a super clean b/s flip. Dave not so clean. I couldn’t nosegrind the ledge Dave couldn’t lipslide. And I couldn’t kickflip the euro. Oh well. It was an awesome session. I’m sure so much more went down that I can’t remember. Luckily there are some clips and photos to help. This park rules.

skate journal: louisville park hip action with ollie (july 4, 2015 day 180)

On a hot late morning Ollie and I went to Louisville park. There were a couple scooters there, but they didn’t last long. And then a couple older dudes who were having a good time which was fun to see. Ollie and I mostly skated the hips. He was doing such good halfcabs. He also had a long line that ended in a pop shove to fakie. The frontside ollies were good too. I had a bunch of lines that started with the f/s ollie on the hip. I would do a b/s flip on the bank, or a boneless or beanplant over the hip, kickflip over the hip, got one b/s flip over the hip. Then Ollie was over it so I skated the ledge slowly as I was really beat and it was pretty darn hot. I had some good crooks, one weak back 50, bad halfcab noseslide, horribly slow front tailslide, technically a front smith and one front 5-0 on the taller part of the ledge.
