skate journal: fun saturday sessions (oct 15, 2016 day 289)

I had a lazy morning. Slept in a little to try and cure the insomnia. It worked. I felt good. I changed my trucks to the high trucks and the wheels that were on my bigger setup. Around 10am I lazily went over to the school after telling Ollie, “I’m not coming back until I land Josh’s trick”. It took me about 30 minutes and I was back and feeling happy.

After some lunch I went out in front of the house and skated some flatground while waiting for Carleigh. It went ok, some tricks even felt better like fakie bigspin flip. Then after awhile I gave up and left and ended up at Valmont. Carleigh came shortly after. I had setup a little table off the curb to noseslide down to start a run before the bank spot. I got a couple of them, but the angle was really hard and the rocks supporting the side beams kept falling out. Ashlyn showed and started waxing the curb on the side of the bank. I had one line with noseslide then varial flip to fakie. Dave showed too. We were mostly just skating the bank at that point. Carleigh got a rad line (photo above) of boardslide down, ollie the wall then kickflip on a banked sidewalk. Ashlyn did a ton of tricks. Boardslide up, heelflip, fakie heelflip, no comply and some more tricks I’ve forgetting right now. Dave did boardslide up, fakie crook stall, front disaster, kickflip to fakie, boardslide the whole way down, a ton of tricks. Carleigh also did her first boardslide transfer. Then she perfected it with a few more that got better and better. I tried slappy crooks to manual down forever. Got really close, but never made it all the way down. I was getting close to fakie hardflip too when Jason pinged us asking for help. Off to the nursing home Carleigh and I went.
