skate journal: fun at saul’s then some real brief pain (july 17, 2017)

Went to Saul’s after a quick meal. Will and Saul were already there. Nick would show up later. It was a really fun session. My bailed axle stall count was pretty low for me. I had a lot of carve grinds, some regular grinds, got into front smiths and often ran out of speed. Ha. I did get multiple walls in a row of grinds/stalls though. Saul had some good backside grinds then started trying “anything but another backside grind”. Ha. He had a couple really good front slashes, looked close to front smith. Will was ripping as usual. Switch frontside carve grind. Wow. It was funny though, because he struggled with a regular rock ‘n roll. When he got it, he did it great, but it’s just funny seeing someone that good have trouble with a rock ‘n roll. Skateboarding rules like that. Nick had the rocks, toyed with boardslides in the deep. I had to bail to get boards to Meta. After Meta I stopped by the rainbow ledge not feeling great. I tried a few tricks and bailed a front 50 and so much pain shot through my left heel that I quit and went home. Argh. Then Ollie and I went to Boulder creek and got cold. It was nice.
