skate journal: dog park evening session (july 11, 2019)

After my first day back at work in a long time and a nap to recover I went to the dog park on a hot evening. This was my first time going there solo in the evening. There weren’t too many people. Tyler and Veronica were the only people I knew. It seems like a popular spot for college students. Maybe they used to go to the Boulder park, but I wouldn’t know because I never went there. I started out slow, immediately not liking my setup and at no point did I like my setup. I had put the wider axles on. I don’t like wider axles than deck width. Pretty quickly I had a couple great feeling crooks on the tall part of the black box. I tried again later (photo) and couldn’t do it. I messed around for awhile before wanting to try a line. Nose manual the box, ollie the kinked flatbar, wallie the barrier, treflip on flat, crooks the black box. I never got past the ollie. Ugh. I could barely nose manual too. It was kind of depressing. I did get the wallies basically every try at least. Got a halfcab flip. Couldn’t commit to nosegrind on the low part of the black ledge. Took a long time to back 50 it. Took even longer to halfcab noseslide the metal ledge. Argh. Couldn’t halfcab crook it either. Went home questioning everything.
