skate journal: Little Longmont park with Ollie (Oct 18, 2009)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 19th, 2009 by corpo

Headed into Longmont to hit the little concrete park since Boulder sucks and you can’t bring kids there without fearing their death by bikers.  Anyways, I was very tired/burnt out from editing and staying up so late drinking beers on the commentary.  There were a few young teenagers hanging out being annoying, but other then that we had the place to ourselves and two other kids that were smart enough to be skating Null decks.  Ollie had fun doing little ollies out of the banks and cruising around.  I was just trying ollies everywhere as I was so tired.  I got one run where I ollied up the tall ledge, ollied into the bank, ollied the hip.  Another one that was harder was ollie onto the frontside hubba, ollie off the drop then quickly try to ollie onto the ledge.  So hard.  I got no ups.  Then we ended up cruising around this grass/sidewalk area that was really really fun.  You could gap in and gap out of all kinds of different curved walkways.  It was a blast.  Ollie was even ollieing some of the small ones.  He was also pushing the right way instead of mongo once in awhile.  Awesome.  There were some rocks to skate too and I wallied over a little one.  For how tired I was it was a pretty fun session and all.  Ollie rules.

skate journal: rock creek (oct 16, 2009)

Short and sweet rock creek session with Nate and John.  Started off sucking and kept at it.  John was ripping.  Nate and I skate Rampy too much I think and it makes everything else so hard.  Anyways I flailed at front 50s for awhile, kind of landed front smiths, got a decent fakie backsmith fakie and basically didn’t do anything cool.  We played a game of SKATE that went on for quite some time.  Lots of tricks were landed, but they took forever to land.  John finally beat me with a fakie treflip.  Back to the computer for editing ..

skate journal: Northside fun (Oct 15, 2009)

Typical week day crew of John, Nate and I headed up to the Fort.  Both John and I had some stuff to sell at MRKT then we headed out to Northside with Andy, Sean and Grant for a fun session.  I was pretty tired from more late night editing, but happy to know that my Off The Couch part was totally done.  Yippee!  I mostly just cruised around and didn’t do anything special.  Nate got me to try bluntslides on the end of the banked ledge and those were fun.  We all wallied over the low part of the barrier.  Well, everyone did it quick and steezey where as I took several tries and I’m sure it looked horrible.  We played a couple game of SKATE where I was the first one out both times.  Man I’ve lost all my tricks.  OH well, my part is done I can retire now.  Ha.

skate journal: filming with Mikey (Oct 14, 2009)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 19th, 2009 by corpo

After a late night of editing I met up with Mikey and we hit some Boulder spots.  We went and warmed up at the bank over the drain spot.  I was tired and sore and didn’t really try anything.  Mike did a nollie front 180 over that was pretty cool.  We hit a few more spots where I just filmed.  Then found this tiny bank to fence where I did a bunch of fakie wallrides about 3 inches high.  Oh well.

skate journal: Longmont park/ditch fun with John and Nate (Oct 13, 2009)

Posted in Skate Journal on October 19th, 2009 by corpo

Headed to Longmont around 1pm with John and Nate and we hit Longmont park.  Some bikers were there filming and one of them did a monster 180 over the snowboard jump.  It was gnarly enough to deserve a clap.  I had gone there with the goal of doing a no comply bigger spin, but couldn’t get it.  We were having fun cruising and I was trying hard not to feel the pressure of needing one more trick for my part to be done.  I got a front 5-0 shove on the ledge second try and Nate did all kinds of rad nosegrind tricks.  John did his patented slappy switch front noseslide combos.  I started trying a run where I ollied up the 3 stair and and tried a no comply bigger spin on the mellow bank.  Didn’t get it, but ended up filming a line of ollie up the 3, no comply 360, no comply bigspin.  Cool!  Thanks John.Next we went to Longmont ditch were Nate shouldn’t have bailed back 5-0s to fakie and I discovered how lame my nosegrinds were.  I filmed a quick line of back nosegrind followed by front rock.  I was hyped until I saw it.  Ugh!  Nate was killing powerslides both ways on the wall of the ditch so I started trying them on the backside wall and got a few.  Fun.  Then I filmed John get a sick ol’ line and we headed over to Brian’s to finish filming his intro. After that Brian wanted to go the the junk spot and get a trick that’s been eluding him a long time.  We messed around on a pallet propped up against a ledge first though.  Brian was trying 360 kickturns to rock.  He probably has a cooler name for it though.  I was trying rock kickflips out.  Never got too close.  Brian did though.  John was putting down trick after trick.  Nate was pretending he’s young and trying boardslide popouts over the ledge gap.  Then I filmed Brian land his elusive trick with an extra revert and Nate prove that he actually is young.  Cool.  Off to edit ..

skate journal: flatground in front of the house (Oct 12, 2009)

This is one of those times where I waited to long to update my journal.  About all I remember was not skating too well, but my legs working decently.  I was about to head inside when Ollie headed out with his board and setup a little rock to ollie on the sidewalk.  He did some of his best ollies ever right over the rock so I had to stay out there longer and watch that.

Sponsor me!

Got this one on the Null myspace page and it was just too good to not post.  Maybe I’ll start a new category called ‘sponsor me’ kinda like how Emerica used to to it.  My favorite part of this one is the dad.  Sure you only get to see him for a brief second at the start, but he sure looks like a bad ass right?  And the choice of music is epic.  I can almost remember the glam rock song, but not quite.  Guess that means it wasn’t Poison.

Hell yeah Obama!
