skate journal: a little thorton park then a weird ledge ditch spot with cass (aug 30, 2025)

Met up with Cass at the 112th Thornton park. It was cloudy and raining in Boulder when I left, but sunny and nice in Thornton. I arrived as Cass was trying to front noseslide over the manual pad. After that we did some crooks on the ledge. Well, I did. Ha. Mine were looks jibs compared to Cass’ attempts though. I would do a line of crooks then kickflip to fakie on a bank there. Also a front axle on the bank to curb. Am I really to a point where I list that as a trick? Geez.

Then we went to this nearby ditch/ledge spot which was way different than I imagined. I didn’t skate very well. Couldn’t halfcab flip on flat or commit to front 50 on the downhill ledge, or crooks the main ledge. Cass on the other hand, did crooks shove before we had even thought of filming. He got close, but couldn’t do it again once we tried to film though. He also got front nose shove. I would do the sw front nose then sw 180, switch nose 270 shove. Tried a million noseslides to manual and actually got one somehow. I was pretty hyped even if it wasn’t done very well.

skate journal: brief dog park then valmont again because of the rain and dave joined (aug 29, 2025)

After work on a Friday I drove through gridlock CU football traffic to dog park just as it started raining. I managed a couple tricks as it started. Mainly some curb 50s, noseslides and crooks on the bench. Tried to front 50 the bench a few times, but the rain became too much.

Went to the garage again. This time did the 180 sw crooks shove first try. I had a setup change that seemed okay. 8.3 with 8.25 thunders. It flipped slightly better. I would get a few flip tricks before Dave showed and some switch front axle stalls. I would get a switch front pivot on a curb too. Dave warmed up a bit then quickly did some nollie over to crooks on the “bump to curb”. But he did it for a long time to avoid the hand touch. I fell into a rut of trying kickflip axle stall then treflip for a long time. The great news being that I finally landed a treflip. It’s been a long time since I’ve done one on flatground. Also got a front smith stall kickflip out. No heelflip garnish though. Dave also did nollie shove transfer to pivot and back 180 sw crooks. Also a bangin’ fakie varial flip.
