{"id":3001,"date":"2011-01-04T03:59:39","date_gmt":"2011-01-04T03:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nullozinejr.com\/zine\/?p=3001"},"modified":"2011-01-04T03:59:39","modified_gmt":"2011-01-04T03:59:39","slug":"skate-journal-solo-rampy-kickflips-ollies-and-yellow-curbs-jan-2-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nullozinejr.com\/zine\/2011\/01\/04\/skate-journal-solo-rampy-kickflips-ollies-and-yellow-curbs-jan-2-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"skate journal: Solo Rampy, kickflips, ollies and yellow curbs (Jan 2, 2011)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day one of Liz and the kids being gone for a week and me being a bachelor. \u00a0Naturally I saw them off then hit the booze immediately. \u00a0Or maybe after they left I watched John Cardiels epcily latered then skated the entire day. \u00a0Yeah, yeah that&#8217;s it. \u00a0Rampy was a blast. \u00a0I ended up just trying a run of back 50, back 5-0 to fakie (don&#8217;t worry I still do them really bad), tail stall, frontside ollie, rock fakie, fakie hurricane. \u00a0I got all, but the fakie hurricane quite a few times. \u00a0After awhile I was even kinda stoked on some of the frontside ollies. \u00a0In between runs I would try a 1mph manual pop shove out. \u00a0Got a few of them. \u00a0Then I would try a nollie flip. \u00a0Got none, but a few were close. \u00a0Sometimes I would also do kickflips until I bailed one. \u00a0I eventually did the whole line, felt stoked and went inside to grab some lunch as Carleigh and Chad were supposed to be over soon.So I ate, then I watched Bernies video and then I watched the Kenny Hoyle video. \u00a0And then I waited a bit. \u00a0I went outside and waited. \u00a0There was a tiny patch of dry concrete in the driveway so I did about 100 stationary kickflips. \u00a0Literally. \u00a0I kept thinking C &amp; C would arrive, but they never did. \u00a0I noticed that the sidewalk was remotely dry and started pushing down it and ollieing sections of sidewalk. \u00a0It was scary because it was narrow and if I shot the board out or landed bad I or my board would go in the snow. \u00a0After about 20 of these a big 4 wheel drive truck drove threw the slush and covered the sidewalk. \u00a0I flipped him off. \u00a0He laughed. \u00a0Back to stationary kickflips. \u00a0Eventually Carleigh and Chad showed. \u00a0Yeah.Yellow curbs near <a href=\"http:\/\/skatecrisis.com\">Crisis<\/a> was next. \u00a0Neil met us there. \u00a0Some of the Crisis kids were there for about 5 minutes then they moved on. \u00a0Things started and stayed pretty lame for me. \u00a0Chad had some good moves. \u00a0Neil has the basics so good. \u00a0Carleigh shouldn&#8217;t have been skating, her foot is jacked. \u00a0She learned powerslides though and worked on pushing switch. \u00a0Everyone was doing there own thing. \u00a0Eventually Chad pulled out a trashcan on it&#8217;s side to ollie over. \u00a0Chad and Neil ollied over it like it was nothing. \u00a0Chad also front 180d it, back 180, kickflip, switch ollie and even switch heel. \u00a0Ridiculous. \u00a0Neil no complied over it. \u00a0I took my sweet time just to ollie over it. \u00a0It took a lot of effort. \u00a0I had done a kickflip manual on one of the long manual pads and it really hyped me up. \u00a0I&#8217;ve never done that trick longer then 8 feet. \u00a0I tried to do it again, but never quite got it again. \u00a0I really wanted to ollie the trashcan in a line. \u00a0Kick manual, back 50 the a fun yellow curb curve then ollie the trash can. \u00a0But seeing as how I knew I would never get that kick manny again I kept losing motivation for the ollie. \u00a0Eventually I just did it solo. \u00a0Carleigh was snapping photos. \u00a0 At the end Chad and I played SKATE. \u00a0I got Chad to SKA each time, but that was it. \u00a0He&#8217;s got all the nollie, switch and regular heelflip variations and they took me out. \u00a0Super fun day. \u00a0Hyped to ollie the trash can even though it was easy for Chad and Neil.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnarlycarleigh.com\/2011\/01\/first-skate-session-of-new-year.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/__udAs-LAziw\/TSKRCbjjooI\/AAAAAAAAE0M\/sTLTKAXWI7E\/s1600\/DSC_0817.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a>Neil comply<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnarlycarleigh.com\/2011\/01\/first-skate-session-of-new-year.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/__udAs-LAziw\/TSKUbhZcYpI\/AAAAAAAAE00\/kcxXszoqTp0\/s1600\/DSC_0852_edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a>Chad switch heel<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3007\" title=\"glen-ollietrash\" src=\"http:\/\/nullozinejr.com\/zine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/glen-ollietrash-640x428.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"428\" \/>Me ollie captured a bit late.
