skate journal: broomfield for a few hours with dave (april 28, 2017)

Went to Broomfield park around 11am on a Friday I had off work. It was beautiful outside even though the snow clouds were looming over the foothills. I was just me and another dude for awhile. I was still totally rusty, but started feeling better. I just kept skating. It took 5 tries to land a kickflip. Ha. I was scared to try lots of stuff, but I kept at it. I really didn’t land much in 3 hours, but I got some stuff I was happy with. Front 50s on the little ledge and even one on the black ledge. I haven’t done that “tall” of a front 50 in a long time. I can’t really think of any other tricks I was hyped on until the very end when I started dorking around with switch front crooks on the low part of the brown banked ledge. Somehow it worked, I got into a few right away and actually even landed one. It felt rad. Dave on the other hand was slaying it. Boardslide across and down the rail, almost feeble to boardslide down it. Solid 50s on the ledge, bag lady on the brick qp, so much more I’m not remembering. Oh near the end we tried a flatground trick, quartapotty trick, trick on the steep bank. Dave did back bigpsin, back d (I think?) then front tail on the bank. Gnar. I did halfcab flip, front feeble, axle stall (I think). It was so rad, Dave was landing back bigspins! I can’t believe I lasted 3 hours.

skate journal: brief berthoud park before the rain (april 27, 2017)

Had the day off work. Had to run some errands including driving to MRKT to pick up some Rabethica shirts. Drove through rain and met Dave and Jake at the Berthoud park. We hadn’t been there since they redid it. There is some new obstacles. It’s got mellow hips and a tiny ledge. So it’s perfect. Oh there is some other stuff too. A few flat bars, quarter pipe, bank with a ledge on top. I felt motivated to skate, but I still started slow. Took me awhile to do front shove over the hip. Jake was doing 50s on the big part of the qp. Dave did pivot then grinded down the escalator which looked super gnarly to me. Then they both got front axle stalls on the bank to ledge which was so gnar. It had started to rain when Jake got his and you could see tracks going up and down the bank. Sketchy. Dave got a back pivot on it too. I had gotten a terrible kickflip over the hip, a couple crooks that fell into noseslide on the main ledge, slow front 50s on the tiny ledge, b/s flip over the hip. I felt okay on my board though. Best I’ve felt in awhile. Dave did back 50 back 180 out on the tiny ledge then went on to do front 180 out as the rain set in. So sick.

Later on in the evening I skated in front of my house for a little bit. I was wearing my 344s to see if I felt better in vulcs. I didn’t. They have better feel and flick, but it hurt.
