skate journal: Valmont with Jason (Sept 3, 2009)

I’ve been wanting to skate Parker some night after work so bad. Tonight was supposed to be the night. Nope, everyone bailed. Ugh. Jason still wanted to skate, but was more into bitching about our spots then driving to a good park. Ugh. We hit up the curb by Neils house for awhile. I was tired and bummed. Next we went to Valmont and started the session off by waxing the ledge until it was red from the red candle. Then we embarked on a backside noseslide convention that lasted at least 30 minutes. It was pretty awesome and we broke the ledge in really good. After that I tried a hundred front 50 front shoves, landed on them all, but only rode away from the primo one. Somehow it landed on it’s wheels after my weight pushed it down. I was pretty tired overall, but we kept hucking at it. I was landing 3 flips pretty consistently and even got one after a crooks popout. I tried a bunch of fakie nosegrind 180s, but never got one. Got a few horrible front tails. Got into a couple kick back 50s. Landed a bad nollie treflip. It was pretty fun, stoked on that spot again. Lastly, the Romero shoes are already dead. They could be the worst shoes I’ve had in a year or two.
