skate journal: bank to curb and nearby josh spot with rob and dave (june 3, 2018)

Struggling for motivation I drove around in the afternoon looking for something new/different to skate. I ended up here. I skated this spot once a long time ago, but there was a company filling all the parking for awhile making the bank to curb not approachable. I got there first. Took me a bit to get some front pivots, front tail, etc. Then I started hucking front pivot/half smith kickflip out. I got kinda close so I setup Hosercam to film which normally would help me try harder, but I didn’t get close again. Rob came and did back axle stall first try. I kept hucking my trick while Rob was knocking off tricks. Back pivot shove, front tail shove, no comply to tail, shove nose stall. Ripping. Dave showed after awhile. He too got the shove nose stall, and one with a 180 out. Also front axle shove to pivot. I had moved on to nosepicks, but still couldn’t get that either. I ended up just doing a front tail to fakie and then a dorky axle stall ollie down to rock ‘n roll.

We moved on to a nearby area where Josh and Jack did some crazy stuff. Dave and I messed around with it. Dave tried the hippy jump pretty quick. I just rode down a level and that was scary enough for me. Dave went on to get the hippy jump. So crazy. While filming it I stared at some stairs thinking I could back 50 them. I mean I should have been able to, but I couldn’t commit even after rub bricking it and waxing it. It bummed me out a lot. Dave front 50’d it.
