skate journal: big arvada with cass and the masses (oct 19, 2023)

After bringing some boards to Monico’s parent’s for free delivery to ABQ I met Cass at the nearby Arvada park. We pulled in at the same time. The park was packed, overflow parking mostly full too. It was nuts. Drunk teenage girls passing out getting hauled off in ambulances. Dudes lined up for the big flyout gap of the day. Scooter kids with bad modern rap playing. Cass and I hid away at the start on the little qp at the top that I really enjoy but he didn’t. I suggested 5 tricks on it first at least, but he gave up. I did some basics then added a switch rock ‘n roll which felt pretty cool. Then I met Cass down at the little grindable bank and mellow blue disc that is really fun. He showed me up on kickflip to fakie then fakie 50. He would go on to get fakie flip on the bank then alley up fakie 50 which was sick. I had a couple okay kickflips and came really close to front heel on the bank in a couple of tries, but instead I bailed and my knee really started hurting. Bob joined us a little and had some nice blunt variations. Oh yeah, I got a blunt to pivot inspired by him which felt cool. Then Cass and I had some fun lining out the middle of the park. F/s ollies a little qp hip, kickflip to fakie a mellow bank, then trying to get to the steeper bank but we only got the kickflip to fakie a couple of times. Cass would line it out as a marathon though with back big on the steeper bank and like 3 more tricks. That was pretty much it. My knee hurt soooo bad at this point. But when I got to the van I took off the knee brace and things felt way better. Weird.

skate journal: fun little dog park session with rob and dave after work (oct 18, 2023)

After a day in the office I pulled into dog park at the same time as Rob on a beautiful afternoon. We walked in to Dave doing back 180 fakie 50 on Full Metal Jacket. He may have added a boardslide to it or something. We all went on to have a pretty decent session I feel like. Rob had a nose manual around the C to 180 out, halfcab 50 back 180 out, such a good nollie front lip. Dave was charging lines ollied the grate gap, back 50 the C, front 50 back 180 out. I was in a good amount of pain but managed a few things I liked such as first try front smith the low ledge, Joe hamilton the low ledge. Well maybe that was it for me actually. Came close to some other stuff. Matt came and said hi at the end and my legs were toast after that.
