Went out to Rampy on a rainy night after having a blast playing nerf guns with Ollie. My side was feeling much better and I was finally able to really skate. It took a bit to get the hang of it again, but I had fun. I didn’t do anything great on the ramp. In fact I actually kind of struggled with all the basics. Oh well. Once again I had more fun skating the flat even though I struggled with that too. Got one 3 flip, got close to switch and nollie flips, switch varial flip. Did some flatground ollies and had one of the best feeling ones I’ve done in awhile.

Went to campus with a little less pain and not much time. Pushing around hurt initially. I ended up at this curb. Did some no ollie noseslides/tailslides. Then started trying slappies. The crooks felt great. Didn’t get a backside one. Got one frontside that felt rad. Did a couple kickflips and started to feel warmed up, but I needed to head home and get ready for the Rockies game with Ollie.

Went out to Rampy after sitting around a lot in pain. I had some new shoes. I went with Es Accel Slim because it seems like a nice thin cupsole (still wish the new PJs skated like the old ones). I dropped in, but ended up chickening out of the axle stall due to fear of slamming and it hurt my side a bunch. So I just did some weird halfcab rock to fakie manuals things on the flat. I can’t wait for these pains in my side to be gone.

Totally obsessed over bigger wheels for the last day. I got home from work, took a nap and then setup some Null 54s. They look huge. I rolled down the bikepath to Wilville. I wanted to just skated the bottom metal curb as my side was pretty sore, but they were roped off for construction. Doh. A couple bikers were trying to grind the double set rail. I saw a couple bad falls. As much as I hate sharing a skatepark with a biker due to the collision factor I have a lot of respect for how gnarly they get. So I went to the middle area and tried to remember how to ollie. Ha. It took a couple tries for me to manual into one and I realized manualling is probably the worst thing I could do for my painful side. Luckily I’m really stubborn. I tried a line of no comply 180, halfcab flip, nose manual. The hc flip was hard because of how slow the bigger wheels rotate and how crappy I felt on a board. But I never got the nose manual or even really the confidence to ollie onto the curb in nose manual. Argh. At the end I just did some of those mute grab bomb drops off the brick wall. It could be a fun line to do one off the brick to manual then nose manual the next one into the bank. As the session went on I felt worse and realized my frail body just can’t handle vulcs anymore. Doh. I pushed/walked home. Saw the remains of a bike collision on the bikepath. Yikes.

Still got a ton of pain in my lower left side and still too stubborn to not skate at all. This time I pushed (mostly switch) up the bike path by my house then flew down it. It was a blast.

In a lot of side pain, but not willing to lose a day toward 300 I went out to Rampy thinking I could skate a little. Nope. So I just kind of pumped around on my filming board and tried to do cab kickturns. Didn’t get too close. Did a few flatground ollies. I probably wont be able to really skate for several days. Ugh.

Matt and I rolled to Crisis in time to do bidness before 7 and not keep Fuzz there late. Shortly after 7 the concrete looked kind of dry and we pushed across the street to Safeway. The ledge was dry so we went out front. I was not feeling comfy on my board. We started doing these really long manuals. When I say “we” I mean everyone else. I couldn’t even hardly ollie up the curb and a sharp pain started forming in my left knee. Argh. Fuzz and Matt both did some really long manuals and I think Matt made the goal originally set by Fuzz. Then some other messing around occurred with some curb cuts. Matt and Chase ollied the long gap out of it. So gnar. Fuzz and I tried some little manuals around it. I managed a manual to little slash grind on the next one. It wasn’t much, but it did cheer me up. Then it dried up a little and we went to the ledge behind Safeway. Matt did a bunch of tricks right away. 5-0s, tails, fakie nosegrind 180. Fuzz and I struggled with back 50 then started trying switch front noses the Brandow way. We slid some, it was fun. We did some backside ones too. I hucked sw front nose bigspins out. Seemed possible, but not with how crappy I was feeling. Matt did like 3 switch treflips so we challenged him to do all 4 treflips. He took a bit with nollie tre, but he did them all. So sick. Then we started messing around with fastplants and stuff. Both Fuzz and I did the kickflip variation. I might have done the heelflip variation too, but it wasn’t as good as Fuzz’s. Matt did his first fastplant. Cool. We had fun.

Cold and rainy night and I was tired anyway. I went out to Rampy to break in some new shoes and hopefully have some fun. But I struggled pretty hard initially. I ended up just trying front sugarcanes for awhile. I never got close, but it seems doable. I did a few kickflips on flat too. The new shoes seem alright.

Early mission. Dave and Carleigh were at my house around 7 and we got to the Evergreen park at 8am. Wowsers. Obviously we had the park to ourselves at that point and with the exception of a few kids that mostly skated in the corner it was like that all day. And I say ‘all day’ because we skated for 5 hours straight. I don’t know if Dave and Carleigh liked the park as much as me, but I think it’s one of my favorite parks ever. The warm up process didn’t seem too bad for anyone. Carleigh was the first to get her trucks on the weird vert qp. She also put a first try noseslide down the ‘hubba’. Dave was doing 50s on the metal curb. I was posing f/s halfcab flips over the hip. It’s hard to remember the order of what all went down. Carleigh ended up doing like 500 kicfklips over the b/s hip and was trying kickflips over the f/s flip. Some really nice b/s ollies too. I don’t remember if she got a back disaster on the qp or not. The doubles action was later in the session. Over the course of the session I ended up landing a lot of tricks over the hip. Kickflip, f/s halfcab flip, halfcab flip, fakie bigflip, b/s flip followed by f/s flip and a f/s nollie 270 which I’ve never done before. Simon joined us and ripped the park a new one in no time. Front tail on the vert wall as well as like 10 other tricks, fakie ollie the hip, front 50 up the ‘hubba’, ollies from the kicker into the hip, etc, etc. Dave had some long lines. Out of the kicker to nose manual the top of the hip, ollie the euro to manual. Nollies over the hip then manual the the little qp then cali grind the entire backside of the hip. I had 180 nose manual and kickflip manual from the kicker to the top of the hip. Also a front shove up onto it. I couldn’t get myself to front 50 down the hubba. I should have done it when I had more energy earlier in the session and was able to front 50 shove the ledge on top of the manny pad. Dave did a bunch of nollie 360s over the hip. Carleigh got a super clean b/s flip. Dave not so clean. I couldn’t nosegrind the ledge Dave couldn’t lipslide. And I couldn’t kickflip the euro. Oh well. It was an awesome session. I’m sure so much more went down that I can’t remember. Luckily there are some clips and photos to help. This park rules.

On a hot late morning Ollie and I went to Louisville park. There were a couple scooters there, but they didn’t last long. And then a couple older dudes who were having a good time which was fun to see. Ollie and I mostly skated the hips. He was doing such good halfcabs. He also had a long line that ended in a pop shove to fakie. The frontside ollies were good too. I had a bunch of lines that started with the f/s ollie on the hip. I would do a b/s flip on the bank, or a boneless or beanplant over the hip, kickflip over the hip, got one b/s flip over the hip. Then Ollie was over it so I skated the ledge slowly as I was really beat and it was pretty darn hot. I had some good crooks, one weak back 50, bad halfcab noseslide, horribly slow front tailslide, technically a front smith and one front 5-0 on the taller part of the ledge.
