skate journal: hot morning dog park before filming (july 14, 2019)

On a surprisingly hot morning I met up with Rob, Chad and Kevin at the Dog park. This older dude Will was there too which I haven’t really skated with before. Daryl and Justin showed up after awhile too. I had put smaller trucks on again like an idiot and hated it basically the entire day with the exception of a couple halfcab flips. It was a fun session. Rob had halfcab boardslides on the butter bench, 50 180s, noseslide the top part of the black box (I need a better name for this ledge). Kevin was doing Kevin right away. 50s, nosegrind, 5-0 the top part of the black box. He even crook bonked the new super tall flat bar. I committed to nosegrind on the low black box, but never got far with it. Had a couple good feeling fakie flips, halfcab flips, but couldn’t heelflip. Will got the pole jam after we both failed to treflip. Then he got one. Daryl and Justin were rad to watch. Daryl had some steezy new PJ shoes that made me jealous. Chad had a cool line of nose manual, boardslide to fakie, halfcab, front board the mid square rail. I also saw a nice back 5-0 first try. Kevin tried to get me to back 50 the low part of the black ledge by doing doubles with me back 50’ing the top. We never got it. But I got it first try on my own. Ha. Then I went on to not do kick back 50. I don’t remember much more. The thing about skating the same spot a lot makes it harder to remember what went down that day. Oh yeah, Jack showed up and skated long enough to do a few rad tracks and snap his tail doing a nollie heel over the barrier. That is a big nollie heel! I felt like I got heat stroke and it never went away the rest of the day. Jack got a banger in the fort, but him and Jack came up short at the bench spot. Doh.
