skate journal: fun times across the street dodging kids (july 17, 2019)

After a tough day at work on a hot evening I went across the street to meet Saul for a short one. Things started off good. Saul was already doing some of the longest slappies I’ve ever seen. I took a bit to remember how to do a slappy. I guess it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been here. Saul had a first try back 180 out of the curb cut that was awesome. After awhile two groups of parents with kids showed up in the lot and appeared to be staking claim to the same area. It was quiet annoying, but still fine for awhile. I had some fun 50s, slappy crooks, tried to do kick back tail on the tiny bank. Had a fun front tail back 180 on it. Saul had some frontside slappies going. He said something about using less angle and more front truck and all of a sudden it felt like I could front slappy. It ruled. I ended up getting a lot of them. This is when the parents / kids became almost too much. Either they were totally clueless and just standing right in the way or being passive aggressive. I don’t know. It was super annoying though. My last thing was a front slappy landing right before a bike girl then finally got the kickflip from the curb cut to the parking lot. Fun way to end it.
