On a warm day I met up with Kyle and Cass at a dream spot to film them. I’m not supposed to skate yet, but I couldn’t avoid doing a few ride on grinds. Felt great to grind, but man, I sure hope it doesn’t get knobbed before I can really skate it. Cass got a couple crooks shoves, front nose shove. Kyle got a tech one. Did a lap around the school looking for spots. Then we were out.

Went to dog park to meet Will and Justin and say hi. Did a couple slappy crooks, a switch front nose, rode off the kickers a few times. Felt good to be on a board. Justin front nosed the top tier. Will almost front nosegrinded it. He did back tail shove on the blue movable ledge.

Went to Arvada park to meet up with 98 dudes. I was incredibly sore. Never did anything at Arvada other than huck front heels on the blue bank. Cass was off again. Dan did the best nollie front 180 I’ve ever seen. Scott almost a fakie heel. Preston smith grind the bank to C ledge was nuts. Gordon was poppy.

Off to the nearby hip spot. I didn’t feel confident enough to skate the main bank. Gordon and I looked at the little one around the corner and tried to get going on it. He did a shove. I tried no comply shove and was close, but on the quick push run up I felt a pop in my foot and instant pain shot through it. Argh. I’m done for a while, this was a bad one. I watched Ladd, Preston, Dan, Joe try some tricks. They were close.

Went to dog park incredibly sore from the long night before. Some old dudes were still there. Bratcher learned switch slappy. Cass and I were sucking and tried a warm up game of SKATE that didn’t go well for me getting letters on tricks I should do like bs flip, halfcab flip, etc. I don’t remember getting much of anything. The FOCO Nullers showed and I mostly filmed Hayden and it was cool.

We went to a weird spot. The boys killed it. We went to another weird bank spot. Less was killed.

FOCO dudes left, a few of us went to the benches off Arapahoe. Ladd, Sean and I skated. I had some okay noseslides, some questionable crooks, questionable switch front noseslides. Ladd had good 50s, really good crooks, crooks shove, almost crooks 270 shove. Sean did maybe the best looking front shoves and kickflips down the 2 stairs. 5-0s, tailslides, killed it.

Then everyone else left and Eric and I tried some no comply flips/regular ones over a tiny gap across from dog park. I would get a regular one.

On a very nice afternoon I met up with Skelly, Will and Ted at dog park. Dave would show a little later. Will and Ted were already getting it on Eric’s box. Will was killing it with nollie noseslides, nosegrind 180s, switch crooks. Ted’s front cooks were crazy good. I had some crooks, tried a lot of varial heels (inspired by Tiago!) that were not close, tried a bunch of noseslide 270 shoves that I could not get. I would stick and the bails were killing my foot. Dave had some nice boardslides to fakie and 270 out, front 50s and back 50s! One line of switch 180 5-0 the masonite pad, back 50 the bench, varial flip on flat was so good. Skelly had some boardslides, 50s the curb. I did some rare crooks to fakie and tried crooks shove but couldn’t get one. Hucked some kickflip boardslides with Dave, but never committed.

Then we went over to the valmont park. Dave would slay it like normal. Wallie over the barrier, kickflip into the bank, back tail 360 out over the hip, euro to manny the mellow bank, so many things I can’t even keep track. Skelly got close to front shoves and kickflips, had some good one foots. I was kind of all over the place, had some okay things but never really stuck to anything in particular.

After work on a cool day met Will at Valmont toddler park. Will had forgot his normal skate shoes so was bumming on wearing his “work” shoes but he still skated. I had a kickflip to fakie on the mellow bank, hucked some nollie cabs over a hip, hucked big heels on the mellow bank. Then we skated the pool for a while. I’ve wanted to axle stall it for a long time. It was a bit of a battle, but I was happy to do it and carving around into it was fun too. Will took way less tries to get the rock fakie.

Over at dog park my foot had really started hurting. Eric was there. He had some good crooks, front tails, front and back 50s on the lurb, think he had some heelflips. I really struggled with pop. Had a line of slow front 50 180 on the lurb then halfcab noseslide Eric’s box.

Went to Broomfield on a nice night that got cooler near the end and completely struggled and my foot pain was bad. Garrett got there around the same time. He also struggled. There was something in the air I guess. Was hyped that filmer Chris showed up, he was fun to skate with. It’s been a few days since the session so I forget a lot. Garrett spent a while trying his normal warm up line of back tail into the bank, back 180 nosegrind, kickflip back tail but never got all 3 in the line. He did get a fakie shove nosegrind before focusing his board on a crooks gone wrong. I somehow had no pop, ability to do flip tricks, anything. I manged a front 50 on the black box. I did some noseslides and crooks. I did a new line of crooks to fakie on the black box, then a little sw nose jib on the bankd to ledge. So it wasn’t a total loss of a session at least. Will was once again quick on the ledges. The Justin demo was extra good.

On a rainy day we met at Square State. I wore some gamechanger insoles, took a while to get used to reduction in board feel and arch support. I mean all I really did was a second try kickflip up the euro, a kickflip to fakie up the two levels, almost a b/s flip up the euro. Kyle had some amazing kickflips to fakie grinds on the edge of the upper level. My foot really started to hurt so I just sat and filmed. Brian went in hard on impossibles and never quite got one. I really wanted to see it. Kyle had a really good treflip and bigflip before going in on big heels and would get like 10 of them. Christian though, would do so many fakie tricks like first try halfcab heel, f/s halfcab heel, rick flip, fakie heel, kickflip, back heel, impossible, and probably a lot more.

On my 28th anniversary I had a couple hours to skate and chose to hit some random street spots. Kind of had no idea, but just wanted to head out to Araphoe and find something different. And I got lucky finding a new spot. But wow it was weird. steeper concrete bank, mellow asphalt hump. I don’t know it was really hard to find a way to skate it. I did try a line for a while of a flatground fakie flip then the switch nose jib then varial flip after riding down the bank. Didn’t get the varial flip, but the fakie flip was a struggle so I moved on. The kickflip onto the upper level was way harder than I thought it would be. Took me quite a while. Then I went to the next spot. Did a couple basic stalls and the b/s flip. Did a few weird front 50s on a curb nearby that were not cool or fun. Then a nose slide at a nearby angle iron spot that could probably be waxed up and better than it is. My right foot was really hurting by the end. Fun day though, fun night with the Mighty LZA.

Met up with Cass and Garrett at Denver park of all places. It was popping, took a while to even remotely get going. Cass was trying harder stuff quickly though tried to front shove the wedge drop. I had some fun on the east side lining the ledges. Did noseslide to fakie the taller one then switch front nose on the lower ledge. Then noseslide to fakie followed by a terrible halfcab noseslide. Got a few crooks on the taller one too before a crew of bikers decided it would be a good place to eat dinner. Garrett had crooks easy, back tails. We played a game of SKATE in the main area. I was out first, slammed hard on a pop shove of all things. Cass landed a lot of tricks, but Garrett matched hardflip and went on to take the win. Then we had a really fun night at the NIB premiere.
