skated flatground in front of the house and sucked. really sucked. Got a line of backside flip, halfcab lip, varial flip, but it was pathetic. Hate my new shoes.

Met Chris and Chad at the new awesome art musuem manual benches.  I was feeling pretty out of it and the new setup wasn’t helping.  I got one slow ollie up gap to manual on another.  Don’t forget that this gap is literally only a few inches.  It’s fun though.  Chris slammed trying to nose manual through it.After getting the boot we hit the bump to wallride Nate and I hit awhile ago.  Chris did all kinds of rad tricks like beanplant fakie, boneless to tail,etc.  I got a front “feeble” as Chad put it.Next we skated the little uphill ledge thing in front of the Natural Hist Museum.  Well, we didn’t skate it as a ledge, we just did other stuff.  I got ollie up to side rocks both ways.  back board pulled to fakie and a back board pulled into manual.  That was cool.  Chris killed a million combos and Sean had met up with us and did a no comply and 180 nose manual.Next spot was the mellow gray bank a few yards away.  I got a backside flip and tried a bunch of no comply bigger spins.  Never got one.  Got a decent halfcab flip though.  Sean had a cool full cab no comply and Chris once again all kinds of cool tricks like varial heel to fakie and various boneless combos.  Chris and Chad acted like the wusses they are and took off after this.Sean and I cruised around and hit the old Denver Post building for a minute.  Pretty fun.  Nothing special went down other then me shooting my board into traffic and running after it like an idiot.  We hit a ledge for a minute before getting the boot.  Then we hit the wallride nearby, bombed a little hill nearby and I bailed front wallrides for awihle.  Got close though.  We ollied the four stair on the way out and that was it.

After running some boards up to MRKT I stopped by the new Spring Valley park with new shoes, a new deck AND new wheels.  Ultimate poser. With the fear of falling still pretty high I kept it mellow and just kinda skated slow mellow. Not much new there really right? I did a bunch of kickflips on flat and had to force myself to not clinch my fist to protect my thumb. Pretty funny. I got a couple board slide to nose manuals on the potato chip, but didn’t get the nosegrind out I wanted. Other then that it was a pretty basic pose fest for me. Felt really good to skate though and yes, even just one week off is too much.

Met Riley and the Sioux Falls crew at my house then headed to Rock Creek to meet John.  I had my hand wrapped up real tight again and basically just posed on the ramp while everyone else skated.  I did a few back 50s, but that was basically it.  Then John, Brandon and I dorked out trying flips into front noseslides and just only committing with the front foot.  Brandon got a couple big flips and then tried the real deal an may have actually done it.  John kills the one foot combos.  I got a kickflip front nose on footer.  Fun.  I should try real ones once I can skate with the option of falling down.  I went to film Riley do a ramp montage, but their friend “Dad” ended up rolling or even breaking his ankle.  Shitty.We hit a few Boulder spots for a bit after this.  No one really skated.  Next we went to Parker skatepark.  Jeff, Brian Bourquin, Bernie and Mikey met up with us.  Talk about torture.  That park rules and I couldn’t even really skate.  I did some front 50s for awhile.  Did one to front board and popped out.  But my hand really started to hurt so I basically just sat and posed out for a few hours.  I did manage to film Riley and Mikey huck themselves for awhile.  That was fun.  Look for a montage on the null site soon.

Wrapped up my hand all tight in an ace bandage so that my thumb wouldn’t move and attempted to skate.  It was horrible.  It’s amazing how much you use your thumb to balance.  It took me a long time before I could even manual the curb.  It was a horrible session.  Jason was ripping though.  He almost did cab front nose.  Rad.

Huge crew. TF’ers Jason, Brian and Neil met up with Nuller’s Riley, Tyler and Bernie and Riley’s friends from Sioux Falls. We went to this blue angled flatbar to start. I played a bad game of SKATE with Riley and won! I beat Riley! But really both of us were sucking. Riley blamed it on his friend Cale loosening his trucks. Then I filmed Tyler and Riley huck themselves at this flatbar for hours. After that we did Honeys Hole for a bit before going back to the carwash bank in Lville. We put a sign in front of the curb and after two younger and less fat dudes rolled over it without problems I thought I’d be fine. Nope. I was going fast as hell too. SPLAT. The whole left side of my body still hurts. I actually thought I broke my thumb, but it’s just a torn tendon. OUCH. Still hurts really bad. Could have gone without that slam. Especially since they fixed the sign after that and it worked perfectly. UGH.

Skated Rampy for about an hour. Didn’t land anything new, but got most of the newer tricks I’ve recently learned. Got a good first try fakie back smith to fakie. Tried a bunch of fakie front pivot to rock fakie, but never committed. I’ve never tried that trick before. Had a good feeling front smith grind. Eh, wasn’t the greatest session, but Rampy rules.

Busy at work, busy with Null, didn’t have time to make it to Rock Creek and meet everyone so I skated flat for about 30 minutes in front of my house. After some dorking and warming up I kinda settled on a couple run attempts. Going one way backside flip, halfcab flip, 360 flip. The other way kickflip some cracks in the road then nollie treflip. Well, I almost ended up getting both in one. I did a backside flip, halfcab flip, 360 flip, kickflipped the cracks then landed on nollie tre, but didn’t ride away. Doh! Stoked on that run though. Stoked I was landing backside flips most tries too. I can probably account the decent skating to the fact that I had my mp3 player on to the album of the decade – Farm. Seriously, the best album since 1991 (Green Mind). Maybe even better then that. Who know and who cares. Farm rules and skateboarding ist very fun.

After hitting Meta and 303 I met up with Chris Jones and his buddy Cody at the new art museum with all the fun benches with gaps.  Chris was ripping out of the gates.  I was just about getting warmed up when security came and kicked us out.  We rolled around to a few spots and I was tired and sucking.  Chris was able to wallie the weird slanted bank/ledges good and almost ollie a fire hydrant.  We ended up at the weird elevated narrow bank spot where I continued to suck and had no energy.  Chris did a run with a nosebonk on one then a front 180 wallride frontside halfcab out.  Cool.  We headed out, but decided to play a game of SKATE on the way.  We ended up playing a few.  The first one Chris won easy with tricks like nollie heel, varial heel and other cool stuff.  The second game he had S and I had SKAT.  He had me with tricks like switch flip, nollie flip, nollie varial heel and something else.  But out of the blue I landed a bunch of tricks.  Fakie varial flip, frontside halfcab flip, treflip, nollie treflip, varial flip and fakie bigflip which took him out.  My best game of SKATE in awhile.  Awesome.  We had a tie breaker game of no complies that we kinda ended up just giving up on, but Chris prolly won it.  It’s alway nice losing a game of no comply skate to someone 15 years younger then you.

Got up early and drove all the way from Omaha to Boulder.  The last two hours of the drive were full of the kids yelling while playing in the back of the car.  It was rough.  Then I hit the grocery store and was reminded of how crowded Boulder gets when the students come back.  Finally, I went skating.  I met John at St Julien and we dorked around on a wooden crate that had been set down the ledge for a long time.  I was sucking.  John was ripping.  It took me at least 10 tries to ollie into it.  Ugh.  I blame my travel feet.  But we had fun.  John got a run with a manny up and manny down.  I got the same, but with just an ollie in.  We also rode along the ledge then ollied into the bank.  I got a manual up to rock to fakie.  Nothing special, but a good warm up.We cruised around to various spots.  We hit the brick bank at the bottom of the parking garage.  That thing pretty much sucks.  We both dropped in and I got a front 50 stall then turned into the bank.  We skated the white ledge for awhile and not much went down.  John got close to a bunch of backside noseslides and I got close to back 50s.  I managed one accidental back 5-0 where I came to a complete halt before landing.  Sweet.  We messed around at Wells Fargo banks for a minute.  I got a back 5-0 late revert.  We messed around on some other stuff before ending back up on Canyon and doing tricks into the parking garage bank.  We were pretty beat, but ended up doing a bunch.  I got kickflip, shoves, varial flip, fakie bigflip and a backside flip.  John got front shove revert, no comply shifty, halfcab flip, fakie flip and probably more that I forget.  We closed on a game of SKATE where John schooled me once again.  He did nollie flip and switch flip.  I’ll never land those again.  Doh.  I only got him an S on a heelflip that I should have snapped the tail of my board on.  Oh well, it was a blast.
