skate journal: solo louisville trying to get back into the groove of things (march 7, 2016 day 67)

louisville skatepark colorado

Forced myself to get off the couch after my first day of work in awhile. Went to Louisville park. When I arrived there were a couple other skaters there. One of which was completely destroying with super fast 360 flip, monster frontside airs, fast ledge tricks, etc. It was crazy. I bailed axle stalls to warm up, got a kickflip on the bank, failed to do a front pivot on the bank to curb. The other dudes left. I then mostly skated the ledge. I took awhile and I skated slower then I like to, but I finally got in the groove a little. I got a few tricks (all of which took a long time). Back noseslide, back noseslide to fakie, back crooks, front 50, front 50 front 180 out, front 50 shove out, a really slow front tail, front 5-0, back 50, halfcab noseslide almost halfcab noseslide to fakie. I left shortly before the lights shut off. It was cold. But I was happy to start kind of feeling like myself again. And I’m still amazed how much more pop the STFs have then the Formula 4s.

skate journal: valmont blah (march 6, 2016 day 66 (only 300 to go!))

Went out to Valmont after some morning hiking/snowboarding at Berthoud. I was super beat since we hiked so much, but I was feeling healthier at least. I started with the ol’ no ollie noseslide routine, graduated to noseslides, 50s and back crooks on the low part of the ledge. Mostly did kickflips on flat and didn’t have the energy for more. I was going to try something kind of hard for the game, but decided to do the ol’ bomb drop instead. Man that trick is fun. I know Josh will get it easy, but oh well.

skate journal: trying the same trick over and over again at westy park with dave (march 4, 2016 day 64)

And while I was not landing anything @fullertrron landed a lot.

Another day off work. Dave came over around 1 and we rolled to the little Westminster park. There were a couple other skaters when we got there, but they left after awhile. Warming up was almost impossible for me. Even though I haven’t missed a day of skating I haven’t been in my normal routine. Aka, lots of skating, lots of flip tricks, etc. I really didn’t do much more then get warmed up enough to try front 50 bigspins and then try them for two hours. Ugh. Even broke my board. Dave did a lot though. Good frontside ollies over the quarterpipe hip, all the grinds above, nose manual, much, much more. He was ripping. I had put some old Bones STFs on as I was starting to think the softer 99a Spitfires didn’t have as much pop. I was right. So much for skating softer wheels.

skate journal: mellow solo safeway ledge (march 3, 2016 day 63)

Posted in Skate Journal on March 8th, 2016 by corpo

Went to Safeway ledge mid day after a nap on a day I had to use as vacation. I was so rusty. I didn’t do much more then front and back 50s and kickflips. Maybe a bad front tail or two, halfcab noseslide, nollie flip attempts, front 50 shove. Grinding concrete felt good.

skate journal: boulder ditch struggles (march 2, 2016 day 62)

Escaped my sickness for a few minutes to watch @fullertrron feeble his favorite spot. 💨⛵️

Met up with Dave after a day of laying around I attempted to meet Dave for a few minutes at Boulder Ditch. It was super windy which did not help me feel any better. I struggled as I didn’t have much motivation, coordination or the ability to breath. I did a boardslide on the pvc, did a front 5-0 off the end of the PVC, posed some feebles, struggled and ended by doing a kickflip on flat. Dave had some moves though. Long feeble transfers, front 50 transfers, steezy pivots on the taller qp and a bunch more I’m sure. I probably shouldn’t have skated like that though as I felt like crap when I got home.

Feeling more sick then yesterday went out to the garage for a total minimum of a couple 180 slides and then 4 tries to get a crappy kickflip.

skate journal: feeling sick some nollie shoves and a kickflip (feb 29, 2016 day 60)

Feeling sick I went out to the garage for a minimum session. Did a couple nollie shoves, 180 slides and then a first try kickflip to call it a day.

twirlybird

old spot, still fun

first one off a stair

After driving down from Buena Vista and a nap I headed out to hopefully enjoy the warm weather a little. I was supposed to do a “Twirlybird” for the game and I remembered this old short manual pad that I skated like 10 years ago (really) that was perfect for 180 nose manuals. So I figured it would be good for the extra 180 too. This spot ended up being pretty awesome. I mostly just tried the twirlybird until I got it. Going back I would try front tails on the curb and they felt somewhat good for once. It took me a solid 20 minutes to get the twirlybird and it felt pretty neat to land it. Then I skated more of the spot. Ollied the tiny median, did some grinds on it, did a kickflip and a bad treflip, ollied the little curb off the sidewalk. Then I ended by doing a wallie/nollie off the one stair. I didn’t do it very good, but it felt pretty cool anyway.
